Questions to ask your Photographer

While we’d rather you ask us these questions, we understand we’re not a perfect match for all brides. We however will still give you this list of some of the very important questions to ask your photographer. Note that this list has been compiled from our experience and from those of other photographers and brides as well.

When can I expect to see my photographs?

Do I get the high res files?  Is there an additional cost, and are they printable?

Do you have a backup plan should you become ill, or die J?

Do you have back up gear?

Do I need to feed you on the day?

Are you insured?

Is there anything you recommend we add?  Why?

What does the day look and feel like with you as my photographer?

May I see a price list for any of other deliverables that I might want to purchase after the wedding?

Are other people allowed to take pictures while you’re working?

May I see one or two entire weddings that you’ve photographed?

How many images do you shoot at a typical wedding?

How many images do you typically deliver to your clients?

What has influenced your photography style the most?

Do you work with an assistant or second shooter?

Have you photographed at my venue before?

Are you comfortable photographing our ceremony without flash?

Why should I hire you?

If certain events get delayed on the day, will you stay extra hours? Will I be charged for that, how much?

For those doing non-traditional English weddings, you need to ask if the photographer has done your type of wedding before.

What if I don’t want you blogging my images, can I opt out?

Overnight and travel arrangements if required, who pays?

If the photographer is not a photojournalist, you need to ask if he/she is comfortable directing and posing people.

What if there’s not enough time for bride and groom portrait session after the ceremony, can this be rescheduled? and what are the implications?

Is there an engagement/pre wedding shoot as part of the package?

How do you select images to turn into black and white? Do I have any say in this?

Do you work alone? or with an assistant or second shooter? can I opt out of this, will it affect the price?

Are album preview changes allowed? will you be charging me for them?
